You come to realize
that time moves so quickly
when you fail to notice
that somehow, in light
of everything that has happened
in the last 31 days,
you don't stop to think
and ask yourself
the questions to be asked
when you look back in time
and see how much,
how well,
and how far you've grown
without even noticing it
pass by under you.

I can't believe it's been a whole month since I started at DeviantArt.

In my time here, I've grown a lot without realizing it. The wonders time can do when you're enjoying what you do and you're finally doing what you love.

I remember Heidi asking me if I would be homesick coming over here. I told her I wouldn't be. And so far, more than ever, I don't see any reason to, because this place -- all of you, even -- are what anchor me here. For that, I'm eternally grateful.

Here's to more growth, and to more being with all of you. I'm really glad to be here. :)

(P.S.: Yes, I wrote this in less than ten minutes. Woohoo for me beating back writer's block! That pink one...)

Awesome work! Super quick time too. The only thing I would point out, if I was being super nitpicky, is I'd have a look (when you have time to) at the breaks between lines. The last three lines nail it spot on. Play around a little at where you want your line to end. Even without punctuation at the end of the line, it's almost like it acts in a similar way for the reader, so bear it in mind when playing around with spacing. I only mentioned it because the last three lines have it down perfect :D

I did take this into consideration, especially since I've been writing less poetry in recent years, but I shall!

One thing that I try to do when breaking lines down is to hear in my head what they'd sound like, and then do breaks from there. I notice though that it can be hit-or-miss given that people hear those breaks differently.

Something for me to review with future works, but also with this one as well. Thanks for the feedback! :D

Of course! It's difficult to hear sometimes. I focus a lot of my energy on it. But then my word choice can often be too vague or too flat. Such is writing!

I'm glad you've beaten your writer's block, Josh! I'm about to get into some writing myself in just a bit, my novel is awaiting me..

Good luck with that! Not sure if I can get back to novel writing myself but hopefully soon. In the meantime, best of luck with how your written works will end up like! :D

Thanks! I've been enjoying the ride a lot so far- it's my first novel, so a lot of new things to experience and find out, but so far, it's been great. Soon I'll be starting editing. It's crazy!
