I can't imagine taking the time...

To sit down and think of words
To put them all down into verse
To picture them as mental curds
Churning inside this restless mind.

To find a way to get this right
To ensure delivery's airtight
To build upon it, keeping it light
So that the idea, somehow, isn't lost.

To criticize myself for doing nothing
To drown myself in fear and loathing
To stop myself from teary moping
In a vain attempt to get something out.

...and not doing anything about it.

Finally, I wrote something.

The title is from the Russian term for writer's block, творческий кризис (tvorcheskiy krizis), since writer's block often is a crisis of creativity as much as it is a crisis of words: something that the English term doesn't always convey.

Now that I've managed to take that out, maybe I'll start posting even more poetry later on. Let's see. :)

"Writers block" it's completely misleading and unfortunately most of the times are also misleaded the "blocked" ones.
Having no idea to express-write down it's not a block, it has to do with other parameters of your life.

"Creative crisis" as a term and your words are defining the real case. The real case it's when you have an idea , but for some reason you cannot express it at all or you are not satisfied with the result of your tries.

I had the same effect for many years which led to me leaving DA for a long time. And I tried to make sense of why I couldn't write and when I did it came out as word salad. The last verse was how I've been feeling for the last 10 years without writing.

Sometimes, when you have that block, it is best to force yourself to write through it. I'm glad to see you aren't letting it hold you back! I learned something too - the Russian phrasing is slightly more eloquent, I think.

Oh, I agree! I do think though that I often hold myself back because I don't know what to say, and just like others who are in the same situation as I am, I often find that I'm held back less by the words I have and more by making sure they come out the way I want them to.

And yes, I do think the Russian term is better in that aspect. :P

That's exactly it. Writing can be surprisingly fickle at times! In any case, I'm happy for both of us, we seem to have written something around the same time. Here's to more!

Well thank you! :D I'm surprised it came out the way it did; normally I write it down on paper first. :P

I used to do that more often. Writing stuff on paper first, I mean.
